Our Doctors

Dr. Natasha Taylor

DVM

Dr. Natasha Taylor was born and raised in Richmond, Kentucky. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in 2020 and has been dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets and their families ever since.

Dr. Taylor is passionate about building lasting relationships with clients and partnering with them to support the health and well-being of their pets at every stage of life. She has a special appreciation for small breed dogs, particularly Chihuahuas, and enjoys helping them live long, happy lives.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Taylor enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and kayaking, as well as relaxing with a good book. She shares her home with two beloved Chihuahua mixes, Sky and Storm, who continually remind her why she chose a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Karen Smiar

DVM
Dr. Karen Smiar has worked in veterinary medicine since the age of 16 and graduated from The University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 2023. Since then, she has focused on small animal general practice and urgent care.
She recently moved to Lexington to be closer to the outdoor climbing community (her favorite hobby outside of work). She also enjoys the opportunity to explore a new city in her freetime.

Brittany

Hi, I’m Britt! Veterinary Medicine has been my home for 18 years, and I’ve been so fortunate to care for such a wide variety of species across exotics emergency, small animal general practice, and even zoo medicine. My passions for being a voice for animals and client education have allowed me to support pets and their families through every stage of life and I couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling job. When I’m not at work or exploring nature, you can find me curled up with my fur babies while lost in a good book or enjoying time gaming!

Katie

LVT

Katie started her career in veterinary medicine working at her local clinic while still in high school. Over the last 20 years she has gained experience in general practice, equine medicine, emergency medicine, specialty medicine, and teaching. She has a passion for the veterinary field and loves to pass that knowledge along. Currently she has 3 dogs, Whiskey, Jack, and Maple, a cat, Jekyll, and 4 snakes.

Amelia

LVT

Hi, I’m Amelia, BS, LVT, RVT, ALAT! With more than 15 years in veterinary medicine, I’ve had the opportunity to work in emergency, specialty, and research settings, caring for animals through everything from routine procedures to critical cases. I’m passionate about providing compassionate, high-quality care and enjoy surgery, and being part of a team that helps pets through challenging moments while supporting the families who love them. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my two dogs, Arlo and Torin. Whether I’m exploring nature, horseback riding, capturing moments with my camera, or making memories with family and friends, I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by the people and animals I love.

Rachel

LVT

I’ve wanted to work with animals for as long as I can remember. Starting as a volunteer at a local vet clinic in a small town is where my love and interest for Vet Med bloomed. I then was hired at that same clinic and was inspired to pursue my Vet Tech license at Morehead State. I graduated with a BS in Veterinary Technology and never looked back! I’m passionate about advocating for pets by being their voice and doing my best to ensure people and pets can have a long, healthy, and fulfilling life together. I like to spend my free time with my family, hiking, camping, and reading!

Valerie

LVT

Hi, I’m Val! I have been in Veterinary Medicine since 2013 and became a certified veterinary technician in 2014. I really enjoy internal medicine cases and performing diagnostics. Most recently I lived in Florida and moved to Kentucky about a year ago. In my free time I enjoy cooking, baking, and spending time outdoors with my husband and rescue pup Ollie.

Kaylie

VA

Hi, I’m Kaylie! I began my career as a veterinary assistant in the DC area three years ago before bringing my passion for veterinary medicine back to my home state. I love helping animals and being there for their families when they need support most. Outside of work, I’m kept busy by my own personal zoo—a Dachshund, a Great Dane, and two cats—and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
